An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Teaching Assistant 2 to join our team starting on 3rd September 2025.

This is a permanent post for 31.25 hours each week, from 8.30am to 3.15pm every day.

You will be entitled to an unpaid half hour lunch each day.

We are a large, welcoming and inclusive, Primary School located on the beautiful South Coast, with 443 children currently on roll. Our values are an inclusive “Catholic, Coastal, and Diverse” approach to all.

We are very proud of our school grounds and building, with staff and children showing dedication to caring for our classrooms, communal areas and displays of work.

At St Thomas a Becket Catholic Primary School, our intention is that our curriculum extends opportunity, raises aspiration, opens children’s eyes to Jesus and God’s love and the world beyond their immediate environment, enabling them to live happy, healthy and productive lives and inspire them to become lifelong learners.

We aim to build resilience and encourage a growth mindset amongst our children as it is often through mistakes, we learn the most.

Everyone at St Thomas a Becket follows the Eight Learning Characters which encourages our children to:

  • Concentrate
  • Don’t give up
  • Be cooperative
  • Be curious
  • Have a go
  • Use your imagination,
  • Keep improving
  • Enjoy learning

We are seeking a teaching assistant who is inspired by our vision and would relish the opportunity to join our team.

You will be expected to work collaboratively with all pupils, staff and external agencies. There will be a requirement for playground and lunch time supervision included in the role, and reinforcing positive behaviour and play strategies to ensure a happy, safe learning environment for all.

The successful candidate should be prepared to work hard, be a positive and productive member of the staff team and respond positively to the challenges of day-to-day school life. We expect the most from our pupils so a candidate that has high expectations; has evidence of quality practice; will make learning fun and has a genuine belief that all children have the potential for success would be ideally suited to this post.

In return, we can offer you outstanding support and a commitment to your professional development, a supportive Catholic ethos where your contributions will be valued, a friendly team of enthusiastic colleagues and an attractive working environment with excellent facilities, well-behaved children and supportive families.

Working pattern: Part-time, Term-time only (working for 39 weeks per year plus 6.05 weeks annual leave, which will increase after 5 years’ continuous service)
(As the position is part-time/term-time only, the above salary will be pro rata)
