Who?
We are looking for a Planning Support Assistant to join our busy Planning Support Team, who are responsible for the processing of all planning applications and appeals within the district, as well as being the initial point of contact for planning application enquiries from external and internal agents/customers.
What will you be doing?
Providing administrative support to the Team which processes over 3,500 applications per year.
Dealing with enquiries and requests for information from members of the public and internal colleagues.
Implementing service improvements, ensuring your work is prioritised and statutory deadlines are met.
What do you need?
Previous experience of working as an administrator.
Excellent communication skills and able to confidently deal with internal and external customers.
Strong attention to detail, able to multitask, be methodical and work to deadlines.
Good IT skills.
An ability to work under pressure which will be fundamental in providing effective support.

Main Activities:
- To undertake all necessary administration duties relating to the registration and processing of planning and other applications including but not limited to the management of fees and consultations.
- To deal and respond to correspondence updating system/information records ensuring documents are managed correctly and redacted accurately to comply with Data Protection protocols.
- Process revised plans including uploading to the planning system and ensuring that all documentation is displayed (and kept up to date) on the internal systems and on-line on the Council’s web site ensuring documents are managed correctly and redacted accurately to comply with Data Protection protocols.
- To make up planning application files in accordance with current procedures and distribute as necessary and ensure the planning register is kept up to date.
- To assist in the preparation, circulation and publication of documents related to Planning Committee, weekly lists and press notices.
- To assist wider members of the Development Management team where required contributing to regular team meetings aimed at improving service delivery and the future work of the team.
