Teaching Assistant (The Southfield Trust), East Sussex County Council, Eastbourne

Salary of £16,830, based on Single Status Grade 3.7 / £24,027 (fte).

Term time only. Hours are approx 08:40 – 15:10, five days (30hrs) a week, dependent on site.

The Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in supporting our teachers and engaging with our pupils. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting in the preparation and delivery of lessons.
  • Providing support to individual students or small groups to help them understand the material and complete tasks.
  • Helping to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Monitoring and recording student progress.
  • Assisting with the management of classroom resources and setup.
  • Providing personal care.
  • May be required to work at any of our six sites.

About You

We are looking for candidates who have:

A genuine passion for education and the well-being of children Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

The ability to work collaboratively with teachers and school staff

Patience, flexibility, and a positive attitude

Relevant qualifications (e.g., NVQ Level 2/3 for Teaching Assistants or equivalent) are desirable but not essential
