Terms:

This is a self-employed, part time position. Some travelling may be necessary and all expenses incurred whilst fulfilling their tasks will be reimbursed upon production of receipts.

This extremely important position is based on an annualised salary of £40,000 p.a. with potential for advancement.

Duties include:

  • The function and responsibilities of the Operations Manager is to ensure all aspects of the operational activities of the Charity (Just Friends) are completed in an efficient and successful manner within the policy formulated by the Trustees. This will include any changes they deem necessary in the staff structure.
  • Ensure Branch Managers are operating efficiently and successfully in a sociable manner in providing the right level of services we have designed for the members and contributing to the Awareness Programme implemented to help them increase their branch memberships. Supervise their events programme so that they work within the Request/Authorised system and within budget.

Involvement with the following:

  • Awareness Programme.
  • Oversee all Social Media routines.
  • Ensure all activities are conducted within the Financial Procedures of the Charity.
  • Assist the Administrator in connection with communications with staff as and when
  • Be the lead in any Fundraising activities.
  • Responsible for Members Handbook.
  • Be aware of Risk Management requirements.
  • Oversee the introduction of a Newsletter.
  • Appoint a Volunteer Co-ordinator when required.
  • Encourage collaboration with other Charities.
  • Ensure the Branch Managers receive the necessary training, for example First Aid.
  • Work closely with the CEO on a new website.
  • Assist the Grant Application team who are responsible for ensuring required funding is received.

The person appointed will:

  • Have had good experience working in the Charity Sector
  • Be capable of managing staff
  • Be able to create a safe and efficient working atmosphere
  • Have the ability to work within budgets provided by the Treasurer
  • Have some marketing experience
  • Be computer literate
  • Understand Social Media
  • Demonstrate social skills during their engagement
  • Demonstrate understanding of management principles and practices
  • Act in a professional manner

The successful candidate will serve a 3 month probationary period. If confirmed, the requirement is one month’s notice by either party for termination of contract.

The position is subject to two satisfactory references being obtained and a clean DBS check. Additionally, there is a letter of confidentiality and a code of conduct to be signed.
