Are you passionate about working with people in church and in the community?  Do you have experience in connecting with people from different backgrounds and perspectives?  Can you help us engage with our local community in new ways?  Then we need you!

Emmanuel Church, Eastbourne, is looking for a Community Engagement Manager to work alongside our Minister and church leadership team.  We need someone who will:

  • Support Emmanuel’s ongoing outreach, events and activities for all ages.
  • Represent Emmanuel to people coming to the church and using our premises.
  • Build and develop relationships with local people and organisations.
  • Help explore new ways Emmanuel can engage with others in Eastbourne.
  • Reach out to community groups and identify areas where support

Emmanuel Church is a partnership between the Methodist and United Reformed Churches.  We formed in 2018 and moved to a brand-new church and community space on Upperton Road in 2023.  We are getting settled in our new home, and are looking for a greater community focus in the coming years.  Emmanuel is a part of the Inclusive Church Network and has recently been awarded the Bronze Eco-Church Award and is working towards Silver.

Salary: £19,300 for 25 hours per week with 28 days paid holiday (pro rata).
Hours of work: 8:30am – 1:30pm Monday to Friday.

(As a flexible employer, we are willing to consider some variation to this).

The appointment is subject to an enhanced DBS disclosure.
