Reports to: CEO of Just Friends via the Senior Operations Manager.

Job Purpose: To support the Trustees by managing the charity’s branches and assist in creating and developing new successful branches as planned by the Trustees’ Growth and Development plan. There is an established format for each branch, as stated in the branch leaflets and this will entail travelling to every branch social meeting but not necessarily to branch walking and lunch group meetings.

Salary: £800 per month plus expenses

Position: 50 hours per month

Contract: Fixed Term

Location: East Sussex

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure branches function efficiently and harmoniously with new members welcomed and seated with those who will talk and explain the ethos of Just Friends
  • Dealing with local authorities and organisations and undertake research, when required
  • Plan and organise events for members for individual branches and for the full collective
  • Ensure all new members complete a New Member’s Form which must go to the Just Friends Administrator
  • When monies are taken, a receipt must be given and complete records maintained
  • Bank monies in accordance with the financial systems requirements as listed in the Governance – Financial Accounting Policy
  • Keep members informed of up-coming events through announcements at branch social meetings
  • Organise both walking and lunch groups
  • Arrange a ‘3rd’ social meeting each quarter, if required
  • Ensure all venues are booked and paid for
  • Attend events as required
  • Be aware of members’ welfare and well-being
  • Complete reports for Trustees, as requested
  • Attend Trustees’ meeting, if requested
  • Assist in organising and participating in Awareness events
  • Work closely and harmoniously with other staff members
  • Be aware of any two members violating the Constitution or ethos of Just Friends.

Personal Specification

  • Clean driving licence (if applicable)
  • Computer literate
  • Friendly personality
  • Basic administrative skills
  • Knowledge of East Sussex
  • Accepted DBS application
  • Physical condition that will allow the tasks to be completed
  • Appreciation of economic values when organising events
  • Ability to satisfy Trustees’ confidence
  • Understanding of the Just Friends working ethos
  • Working within the Charity Commission rules and regulations
  • Excellent communicator
  • Capable of working within budgets

It would be an advantage, but not necessary, for the Branch Manager to live alone, thus understanding the members’ problems a little better, along with the charity’s ethos.

It would also be an advantage to have their own transport, but this is not essential.
