A Four Star Hotel on the seafront is recruiting for a Kitchen Assistant to support the smooth running of the kitchen and food outlets by ensuring crockery, cutlery and kitchen equipment is clean and available when it is needed. You will also support the kitchen by carrying out food preparation tasks.

  • Main Responsibilities:
  • To maintain the standards of cleanliness of all materials passing through these areas to company policy. These areas of responsibility will include: Machinery; cooking equipment, crockery and cutlery, pots and pans, floors and tiles, refrigerators and storage areas.
  • Cleaning the kitchen areas and storing deliveries away correctly.
  • Pay attention to Health & Hygiene legislative requirements.
  • Operate and clean equipment correctly and safely adhering to cleaning and maintenance schedules.
  • Ensure work areas are kept clean, safe and tidy at all times, including canteen hot and cold units, all kitchen appliances, work surfaces, floors and walls.
  • To maintain a professional working relationship with the food service team.
  • Control the security of company’s stock and property.
  • Adhere to all regulations in respect of Health and Safety, hygiene, guest safety, fire regulations, emergency procedures and COSHH regulations etc.
  • To ensure that you are correctly dressed, adhere to high personal hygiene standards.
  • Ensure all standard checklists are used as prescribed.
  • Adhere to all regulations in respect of hotel policies and standards, i.e. mandates and food standards.
  • To dispose of rubbish, as outlined by the Executive Chef and to maintain standards of cleanliness in these areas.
  • To comply with any reasonable request by the Head Chef, supervisor or Management.
  • Attend and complete all training scheduled by the Hotel and/or your Head Chef.
  • Washing, peeling and preparing food items.
  • Unloading deliveries and organising the storeroom.
  • These responsibilities are not an exhaustive list and you may be required to undertake other duties as and when deemed required by the Management.
  • The successful candidate must:
  • Be able to work shifts, weekends and public holidays
  • Be able to speak and read English
  • Be comfortable working in a high pressured environment
  • Be able to adapt to situations quickly
